My College Expansion Team

I was talking to a buddy of mine about college basketball when he started talking about how good a team of hand picked college players could do in the NBA. My answer was not very good, but it did get me to thinking about how I would go about putting a team like that together. After a bit of deliberation, this is the team I came up with and my rational.

Starters

PG- Daniel Gibson (Texas)
Great scorer with solid point guard instincts. Playmaker who will get everyone involved while getting 20 points a night.
SG- Ronnie Brewer (Arkansas) Tall with great skills, a TMac like player who will develop into a solid defender when his defense catches up to his offense.
SF- Adam Morrison (Gonzaga) Poor mans Larry Bird who makes up in heart and determination what he lacks in athletic ability. A natural leader with a great feel for the game.
PF- Shelden Williams (Duke) Solid, no nonsense dirty work player who will defend and rebound and not need the ball a lot. Great body for an NBA PF.
C - Josh Boone (UConn) Another hard worker on the boards, one of the few true centers in college. He and Williams make a solid hardworking frontline.

Bench

Rajon Rondo (Kentucky)
Could potentially develop into the best PG on the team. Tall for a PG and has a knack for getting the right player the ball. Will be a force when his offensive game comes around.
JJ Redick (Duke) Every good team needs a sharpshooter. Redick is a solid player and a winner who is lights out from long range and the free throw line.
Rudy Gay (UConn) Will develop into the best player on the team. Has the size and skills to be an elite player in the NBA.
LaMarcus Aldridge (Texas) Another guy who will develop into an NBA star. Aldridge has an NBA ready body and big time skills. The best offensive big man on this team.
Kevin Pittsnogle (West Virginia) Brings toughness to the team and can really knock down the 3 ball. One of the players in college with the best chance to band with the big boys.
Nick Fazekas (Nevada) Can never have too many bigs. Solid polished scorer adds to a frontcourt that lacks offensive fire power.
Taquan Dean (Louisville) Great long distance shooter who plays both guard positions. Brings a winners mentality and versatility to the backcourt.

Inactive

Josh McRoberts (Duke)
Not mature enough to play in the NBA yet, but has a huge upside. In time will become a great player.
Al Horford (Florida) Hard working big man with an NBA body. Game needs to develop, but when it does, look out.
Brandon Rush (Kansas) Wing man with skills and size. A couple of years from being an outstanding NBA player in the mold of a Shawn Marion.

Coach

Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) - No brainer, he is the best coach in college basketball and teams have been trying to get him to make the leap to the NBA for years. Also doesn't hurt that 3 of these kids have already played for him and he is great and getting players with big time talent to buy in and become role players.
