NBA Finals Preview & Dee Brown Injured

Despite the fact that people seem to be annoyed by this so called boring finals, I think it will be a great series with the 2 best teams playing. Both the Spurs and the Pistons play good, sound, fundamental basketball. Who cares there are no sexy names that my mom would recognize, that's for ABC to worry about. I predict the Pistons win the series in 6 closely contested games. I like Detroit to steal game 1 from the Spurs, who have been off over a week. The depth of the Pistons is really going to be a problem for the Spurs. The Pistons do not have one main scorer, instead they have 4 or 5 guys who are all good scorers. This will be a problem for San Antonio who usually gets a big advantage by having Bruce Bowen lock up the other teams best player. That advantage will be diminished by the fact that the Pistons do not have a best player. Conversely, if Tayshaun Prince is able to slow Ginobli down (something no one has been able to do in these playoffs), it would be a far bigger deal than whoever Bowen stops. The bigger issue for the Spurs is that they have no one to cover Rasheed Wallace. If they put Duncan on Rasheed, it leaves Ben Wallace to do what Ben Wallace does. If they don't put Duncan on Rasheed, then Rasheed will abuse Nazr Mohammed or who ever else they use. I also have my concerns as to whether Tony Parker can cover Chauncy Billups. For the Spurs to win this series they will need good consistent play from Parker and Ginobli, solid play from their bench, and an MVP effort from Duncan. I think Duncan will play well but the champs will be too much for him to handle.

In a completely unrelated story, word out of Chicago is that Illinois PG Dee Brown has broken his foot at the Chicago Pre-Draft Camp and will now likely be forced to pull out of the draft and return for his senior season. This is probably for the best as Dee had little chance of cracking the 1st round.
