Job Openings

A lot of big jobs could be coming open at the end of this year. Some already are open. Here is who I think should take each job (Assuming they come open).

Tennessee - Mike Leach

No doubt Tennesee will be looking to make a big spash. They are a top level school on the slide, and in the conference of Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Mark Richt you simply have to make a huge hire here. Look what the Saban hire did for Alabama. The huge fish in the coaching pond right now is Mike Leach, who has to be wondering just what his offense could do in the SEC. Meyer's spread offense worked, so would Leach's Fun and Gun.

Clemson - Will Muschamp

Clemson payed a lot of money to get rid of Tommy Bowden, so hiring a coordinator is the cheaper and maybe smarter move to make. The Clemson job is not the huge gig that Tennesee and Washington are, but it is still big enough to land a top coordinator. Will Muschamp has been weened under Mack Brown and his defense has been great at Texas all year. He has earned a head coaching job and Clemson would be a great one for him.

Auburn - Chris Peterson

Auburn is a tough job to gauge. It is a smallish school in a huge conference. A big time job and a small time job at the same time. I see them going to mid-major route and getting long time offensive genius Chris Peterson away from Boise State. Peterson would bring the offensive firepower Auburn has desperately needed for years now.

Washington - Lane Kiffin

This seems like the biggest no brainer of the bunch. Kiffin could have pretty much any job he wants, and being a guy with west coast ties, this one makes the most sense. The Pac-10 is down and Washington is a sleeping giant. This is the perfect marriage to raise Washington back to national promenance.

Kansas State - Kevin Steele

Kansas State is not an easy place to lure a coach. Manhattan is in the middle of nowhere and the school has limited resources. Kevin Steele has lots of ties to the Big 12 and after a great year as the Alabama Defensive Coordinator, he is in line for a head coaching gig.

Syracuse - Tommy Bowden

Tommy Bowden should chose to take the Ron Zook route. Go to a school with no expectations and use your superior recruiting to build a team slowly. It has worked for Zook at Illinois, and he is a much worse coach than Bowden. This seems like a perfect fit to me.

UCF - Dan Mullen

This would be quite a coup if UCF could land Florida's Offensive Coordinator. Dan Mullen does not get enough credit for the Florida offense. UCF may be all but done with George O'Leary's run-run-run-punt offense. If so, look for them to try to lure an offensive minded coordinator to Orlando. Mullen has the credentials, and if he sees UCF as a sleeping giant like a lot of people, he might just take a run at this job. Do not count Tommy Bowden or Chuck Amato out either.

When it comes to Syracuse I hope that they go after Norm Chow. This a man that could turn any program around just ask at USC and BYU what they think about his coaching.
I just can't figure out why he hasn't become a head coach yet he certainly would be great at it.
Though I do like the rest that you posted great job.

Chow would be a great choice, but at his age, I think he is content to stay an offensive coordinator. He would be a great get for the Cuse though.
